Samsung integrates wireless and camera divisions, hopes to differentiate its phones with better cameras

Optical image stabilization is a feature Samsung might miss out on again with the Galaxy S5, but when it comes to camera quality, the S5 and future Samsung handsets might be even more amazing than they are now, as Samsung has integrated its wireless and camera divisions, according to the Korean media. Why is this important? Well, because the phone-making team will be able to work directly with the camera team and get the most out of the phones’ cameras, something which wouldn’t be that easy with the two teams doing their own thing without the input/knowledge of the other.

A Samsung official is quoted by ETNews as saying: “We will transplant the brand, sales networks, software competency and manufacturing competitiveness of the Wireless Business Division into the Camera Business Division, and integrate the technical know-how of the two business divisions into competency for differentiating our smartphones.”

Since the divisions have only just merged, there’s a chance we won’t see the fruits of the collaboration in the Galaxy S5, but again, expect to see much better cameras on Samsung’s future smartphones.
