Exclusive: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite/Neo Pictures, Specifications and Benchmark results (Update)
You guys may have heard about Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 3 Lite and if you really have, then you probably know about its specifications too, courtesy of GSMArena. Then you may think that what’s the point of this article if the specifications have already been confirmed. Well, you are right! The specifications have been confirmed but this article is much more than just specifications of the device. We have obtained exclusive images of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite, along with its Antutu benchmark results and specifications.
As you can see in the pictures below, the Galaxy Note 3 Lite features exactly the same design characteristic as its older and bigger brother, the Galaxy Note 3. It has the same faux leather removable backplate and serration pattern on the side of the device that evokes a connection to the timeless and enduring strengths of classic notebooks and planners. Both, the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 3 Lite, share the same S-Pen technology, so you will get the same amount on pressure points and sensitivity. The only thing which makes the Lite a little different, from the Galaxy Note 3, is its camera module and its smaller size.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite will come in two variants, HSPA+ (SM-N750) and LTE (SM-N7505). The devices sports a 5.55-inch 720p HD (1280×720) Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 265PPI, 2GB of RAM, 8 Megapixel main camera sensor which is capable of shooting Full HD 1080p videos, 2.1 Megapixel Full HD front facing camera for video calls and selfies, 16GB of Internal storage which is expandable via MicroSD Card and a huge 3,100mAH battery. Our insider had access to the LTE variant of the Galaxy Note 3 Note, and with that you are probably thinking it will have a Snapdragon SoC inside, well that’s not the case. The LTE variant features a Hexa-Core CPU along with ARM’s Mali-T624 GPU. Unfortunately, SoC manufacturer and exact CPU configuration couldn’t be verified because of early software, but it’s confirmed that this isn’t Qualcomm’s silicon. (Check latest update regarding SoC in the last!) Our insider sent us a screenshot, which you can see below, from CPU-Z which shows that all 6-cores are active at the same time.
On the software side, our insider reports that currently the device is being tested with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on-board with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, Magazine UX has not been implemented. He doesn’t think Samsung will include it with the Lite but says even if Samsung decides to do that, it will be with the Android 4.4 KitKat update. All Samsung Galaxy Note 3′s S-Pen features are available on the Lite as well: Air Command Action Memo, Scrapbook, Screen Write, S Finder, Pen Window, S Note, Multi Window, new Easy Clip, Direct Pen Input.
In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy Note 3 Lite offers WiFi 802.11ac support on top of the usual a/b/g/n, and an IR blaster is included for remote control access using Samsung’s WatchON service. NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 + LE are included, and it’s got MHL 2.0 and is able to use a standard MHL connector. However, the Note 3 Lite uses a MicroUSB connector for charging and data transfer instead of the USB 3.0 connector, like on the Note 3.
Our trusty old insider sent us a few screenshots of Antutu Benchmark, as well. As you can see in the screenshots, the Galaxy Note 3 Lite scored a whooping 29K+ points in Antutu, which brings it into Samsung’s Exynos 5410 and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 territory. The Mali-T624 GPU scored pretty awesome points too, so don’t worry about throwing some GPU extensive games at it, they will run like a charm.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite will make its debut at Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, Spain. We of SamMobile team will be live at the event reporting every bit of Samsung news as it happens.
UPDATE: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite/Neo packs Samsung’s own Exynos 5260 Hexa-Core SoC with Heterogeneous Multi-Processing (HMP) capabilities, which means all 6-Cores would be able get activated at the same time. Also, LTE connectivity is on-board, as well!
Verizon’s Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition (SM-P605V) visits the FCC
Verizon is expected to launch the LTE-enabled variant of the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition on its network, and the tablet has now passed an important requirement: certification from the FCC. The Verizon model (SM-P605V) is listed on the FCC as having LTE bands 4 and 13, and while it still doesn’t tell us exactly when Verizon subscribers will be able to buy the device, it’s an indication that it won’t be too long before North America’s largest carrier starts selling Samsung’s latest 10.1-inch Galaxy Note.
Galaxy TabPRO 12.2 and NotePRO 12.2 also have PenTile displays, TabPRO 8.4 is standard RGB
We were a little disappointed to hear that the new 10.1-inch Galaxy TabPRO has a display with a PenTile pixel arrangement, meaning it’s not as sharp as it could be despite its 2,560×1,600 resolution. Well, more disappointment is in store: the folks over at PhoneArena have found out that the 12.2-inch Galaxy TabPRO and the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 also have PenTile displays. Samsung has used the standard RGB pixel arrangement only on the Galaxy TabPRO 8.4, a tablet that needed it less than the others as its smaller screen size and high resolution would have hidden the effects of a PenTile matrix.

MY LUMIA 1520 START SCREEN
The Nokia Lumia 1520 (and the Lumia 1320) is really a different sort of beast to any of the other Lumia smartphones.
As I explained when I gave my first impressions of the phone, the increase in size changes the way you use it. You won’t buy a Lumia 1520 just for texting your mates or phoning your mum (though it can, of course, do both those things). But a much smaller, simpler device would suffice if those were your priorities.
No. The Lumia 1520 was born to make content shine in rich apps.
So that helps to explain the differences between the Start screen on my Lumia 1520 and the Start screen on the Lumia 920 I wrote about a year ago.
Where phone-based communications took centre stage on the Lumia 920, on the Lumia 1520, there’s a much wider and richer set of apps.
With room for 15 medium-sized tiles on the opening screen, there’s no need to restrict yourself in any way. You can fit everything you’re likely to do on a regular basis and a few more that are simply ‘nice-to-have’.
For those of you wondering why I have picked grey as my theme colour, which might seem like an unexciting choice – it’s because it looks really good against white phones – a tip I picked up from Nokia UX design chief Nicki Barton.
Just to pick out a few that really shine. My weather app of choice remains Weather Flow by Gergely Orosz (who we’veinterviewed before). I love the graphical style of Windows Phone, but having a few Live Tiles that use rich imagery really makes it shine because of the contrast.
The Kindle app means you don’t need a separate e-reader anymore on the 1520. The size of the screen and wide choice of presentation styles means you can comfortably read your books at arm’s length, without having to flick forward every five seconds. I can’t get enough news, and so Zite and Paper Boy are the apps I turn to most often when I have a minute to spare.
I’m also going to call out Quick Timer by Pavel Kaufman as a new must-have – you’ll notice I’ve given it a medium-sized tile, even though it doesn’t display any content. Maybe it’s symptomatic of modern life, but I need alarms every time I use the oven, and this app has literally saved my bacon on a few occasions!
The fact that you pretty much have to use two hands to operate the Lumia 1520 has also impacted the layout of my screen. Putting key apps at the top of the screen no longer makes so much sense, since it’s a longer stretch to hit them. Instead, the caller, email and SMS tiles sit in the middle of the right-hand side of the screen. At a pinch, I can even open them one-handed with my thumb there.
Are you using a Lumia 1520 or Lumia 1320? How have you arranged your screen?

Sony Xperia Z Ultra Mobile transformed into a tablet: run of up to 35,000 points
Some time ago the media reported that the U.S. FCC certification page appears on a model SGP412 equipment, this equipment is labeled "portable UMPC devices" instead of "mobile phone." It is likely that Wi-Fi only version of Xpeira Z Ultra, do not have the call feature Xpeira Z Ultra is undoubtedly a mini tablet up.
Today, this mini tablet SGP412 has appeared Tutu, whose run of results up to 35,000 points, the specific configuration and Xpeira Z Ultra same 6.44-inch screen, 1080x1920 resolution, using 800 MSM8074 Qualcomm Snapdragon processor (no baseband version), 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, runs Android 4.2 system, dual camera 2.0 megapixel front camera, 8MP rear camera.
Compared to the previous generation of Sony Xperia Tablet Z 10.1-inch tablet, Sony SGP412 6.44 mini-tablet, the performance has a qualitative leap. But it is now the same size Xpeira Z Ultra phone, but the phone can not play, if the price is less, would you buy it anyway? I do not know on this mini Sony Tablet pricing will be like.
Wi-Fi Only Sony Xperia Z Ultra Resurfaces, Intended As A “Mini” Tablet?
Following the CES unveiling, every Sony fan set his or her eyes on the Xperia Z1 Compact. The handset offers high-end specifications in a “compact” body that delivers a 4.3 inch display. That’s a rare thing nowadays – a small smartphone boasting top-tier internals, so the Z1 Compact has its appeal. But, at the very opposite end, Sony also boasts one of the most powerful phablets around – the Xperia Z Ultra. The handset in question has been released in the later part of 2013, and probably most enthusiasts have already made up their mind regarding this particular device. The conclusion: it’s either too big, or it’s actually the perfect phablet. But what about those who think the Xperia Z Ultra is the ideal device, except for its price? Well, Sony might have the answer, as a Wi-Fi Only variant could hit the shelves sometime in the future. More details below.
Wi-Fi Only Sony Xperia Z Ultra Resurfaces, Intended As A “Mini” Tablet?
Wi-Fi Only Sony Xperia Z Ultra Resurfaces on AnTuTu
Back in November, a mysterious Z Ultra variant limited to Wi-Fi Only connectivity has beenspotted at the FCC. We haven’t heard much about the device since, but earlier today the gadget in question made an appearance in AnTuTu – the popular benchmark for mobile devices.
Spec-wise, the Wi-Fi Only Z Ultra is pretty much the same as its LTE brethren, except of course for the fact that it lacks a few radios. It boasts a 6.44 inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x1920, a Snapdragon 800 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box and an 8-2 MP camera combo.
The price is not mentioned in the benchmark, obviously, but as we all know, a Wi-Fi Only device usually costs less than a LTE-equipped counterpart. It might seem far-fetched for a smartphone to be Wi-Fi Only, but truth be told, if any device can achieve this, then it’s definitely the Xperia Z Ultra. Most people haven’t considered this handset a real smartphone in the first place. Even Sony avoided showcasing this device held at one’s ear in its commercials, mainly because it’s almost as large as a Nexus 7.
In any case, we’ll continue to keep an eye out, so stay tuned. In the meantime, share your thoughts below and let us know if you’d be interested in a Xperia Z Ultra tablet.

Verizon to launch Rose Gold Galaxy Note 3
Samsung recently unveiled the Rose Gold color variant of the Galaxy Note 3, followed by a launch in its home country. Now, it looks like the new color option might be making its way stateside – evleaks has tweeted that the Rose Gold Note 3 is headed to Verizon, though without a mention of when we can expect it to become available. But if you’ve been looking forward to getting a Note 3 in a not-so-standard color scheme and are a Verizon subscriber, then you might want to wait a couple of weeks before making the plunge.
Samsung Galaxy Tab Lite has little say in the pie
Samsung Galaxy Tab Lite SM-T111 - Tablet Guide
A tablet that has not yet been unveiled at CES this week is the Samsung Galaxy Tab Lite, or the SM-T111. Many signs indicate a rapid arrival of this budget tablet from Samsung, including FCC approval that the tablet mentions. Today Tablet Guide learned that the Samsung Galaxy Tab Lite has been tested in an online performance test. This gives us more details about the tablet. Plus an indication of the graphics performance of the SM-T111. And they are not so good ...
The publication in GFXbench shows us that the Samsung Galaxy Tab Lite has a 1024 x 600 screen, confirming earlier rumors. Also notable is that the clock speed is not too high, with a maximum of 1.2 GHz. What processor used is not known, but we assume a budget dual-core or quad-core version, the witness Vivante GC1000 GPU which is also incorporated into the chip. This graphics processor we see regularly in little tale tablets of B-and even C-note. Examples include tablets from Ainol and Ramos we (fortunately) rarely or never encounter in Dutch shops.
