Verizon to launch Rose Gold Galaxy Note 3

Samsung recently unveiled the Rose Gold color variant of the Galaxy Note 3, followed by a launch in its home country. Now, it looks like the new color option might be making its way stateside – evleaks has tweeted that the Rose Gold Note 3 is headed to Verizon, though without a mention of when we can expect it to become available. But if you’ve been looking forward to getting a Note 3 in a not-so-standard color scheme and are a Verizon subscriber, then you might want to wait a couple of weeks before making the plunge.

Verizon readying Galaxy Note 10.1 update that adds Samsung’s WatchON and S Educate apps

Verizon is preparing to roll out a new update to the original Galaxy Note 10.1 in the coming days, and has offered some details on what the update will bring. Well, it seems like the update is aimed purely at adding a couple of Samsung apps and make them default and non-removable – these include Samsung WatchON, which lets you control your TV and acts as a program guide for supported channels, and S Educate, which is basically an education app that lets students watch videos on various subjects like math, science or history and also test their skills via various inbuilt and downloadable tests.
The update should begin rolling out soon, and will bring the tablet’s software version up to JZ054K.I925VRAMK1. Hit the source link for more details on the update, though the screenshot below pretty much sums up the entire changelog. Too bad the Android 4.3 update is still missing, Samsung really needs to show some love to its first 10.1-inch Note.

Verizon Details OTA Update That Will Bring Samsung WatchON And S Educate To Its Galaxy Note 10.1

Verizon has shared details for an upcoming Galaxy Note 10.1 software update that will bringSamsung's WatchON app to the device. The service, which comes pre-installed on many Samsung devices, turns your phone or tablet into an interactive TV guide. It comes with a universal remote for channel surfing, simplifies searching for shows, and enables you to watch some content across multiple devices. This functionality comes bundled as a part of software version JZ054K.I925VRAMK1.
Note
The other included software, S Educate, provides access to thousands of videos and encourages you to take notes or test you prowess using the tablet's included S Pen. It may not be the most exciting service out there, but it's a nice way to justify buying a device with a fancy stylus. Even if, in this case, you likely bought the tablet quite a while ago.
Verizon hasn't provided a timeframe for the update, but in the meantime, here's a primer on WatchON for tablets.

Moto X now $399 everyday for everyone.

When we launched Moto X, our goal was to solve real consumer problems and give people refreshing new choices in the sea of smartphone sameness.

We heard from people that they wanted more control in how their phones looked, so we introduced the Moto Maker customization tool and made it available on all major carriers. That enabled our customers to choose from hundreds of color combinations and, for the first time, real bamboo backs. We heard that battery life was a major pain point, so we engineered Moto X to go all day long. And we heard that having the most current software was really important to our owners, so we made sure that Moto X was the first smartphone to upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat.

But we're not stopping there.

We've been hearing a lot recently from people who want a new premium smartphone at a reasonable price without having to wait for a contract upgrade. That came through especially loud and clear during our holiday flash sales.

So from today forward we're offering Moto X at an everyday starting price of just $399 on any major US carrier, without a contract. This includes customized devices.

Today several wireless carriers offer good month-to-month or prepaid service plans that cost much less than the contract plans that come with subsidized devices. Combine one of those plans with our new $399 everyday pricing and you could save hundreds of dollars over two years while keeping the freedom to change service providers when you feel like it. We can even help you finance your purchase* so you pay monthly for your contract-free Moto X.

Because you should have the freedom to buy a great device when you want, without chaining yourself down.

Happy new year!

Senior Vice President - Product Management

Best Buy selling no-contract Motorola Moto G for Verizon for $99.99

Best Buy is selling the Motorola Moto G for Verizon with no contract for $99.99.
The retailer said it is selling the device at its U.S. stores, including Best Buy Mobile stores.
"The phone is currently landing in stores and is available for sale as soon as it arrives," Best Buy spokesman Jonathan Sandler told The Times.

The Moto G went on sale from Motorola and Amazon this month for $179 and $199 for 8-gigabyte and 16-gigabyte versions, respectively. Motorola had previously said the device would go on sale from U.S. carriers in early 2014, but it seems the gadget has arrived early.
At $99.99, the 4.5-inch HD screen device is one of the cheapest, high-quality smartphones to go on sale in the U.S. with no contract.
Best Buy announced the arrival of the no-contract Verizon Moto G after an image of the gadget was posted Monday on Google+ by a Best Buy Mobile employee, who said in the comments of the image that the device would be available for about $100.
Verizon could not be reached for comment.

Verizon Galaxy S4 getting OTA update, includes better support for non-Samsung chargers

Having become the first carrier to roll out the Android 4.3 update, Verizon is now focusing on improving its variant of the Galaxy S4 through minor updates, one of which is ready to roll out to devices as build VRUEMK2. A noticeable point in the changelog is that the phone will now work better with non-Samsung chargers – it already works great, but likely there was some issue related to using non-Samsung chargers that we weren’t aware of, and since it’s being fixed, we’ll let the fact that the problem exists slide.
Other changes in the update include improved email connectivity and data connections when using proxy servers, and consistent data roaming in Canada and Mexico. The update should begin rolling out soon, and you’ll get a notification in the status bar once it’s available. As always, don’t forget to do a manual check from the Settings » About phone » Software updates menu, even though that doesn’t always help things.

Verizon Galaxy S4 Update Build VRUEMK2 Approved – Allows Non-Samsung Chargers to Work, Fixes Other Issues

A new update for the Samsung Galaxy S4 on Verizon has been approved (and may even be rolling out already) as build VRUEMK2. The update appears to be pretty minor while addressing a few bugs here and there. Things like Email connectivity have been improved, along with making  data roaming more consistent in Canada and Mexico, and better connections while using proxy servers.
But maybe most importantly, the update makes it so that non-Samsung chargers will work correctly with the phone. For those of you with multiple chargers lying around from various phones, throw yourselves a little party.
Verizon’s support page shows that the update is 329MB in size, however, that seems wrong and excessive for something this minor. I’d imagine the documents haven’t been updated yet and are still showing the 4.3 with Galaxy Gear update.
